If the land is well, if the sea is well, the people will thrive.The opportunity awaits…Join us as the Communications Advisor for the Wild Deer Eradication Programme, where you will play a crucial role in fostering collaboration among the Northland Regional Council, the Department of Conservation, the deer industry, hapu, Iwi, and local communities.
This position is fixed term, full-time for 2 years.Your mission?
Keep everyone in the loop and excited about our goal of a Wild Deer-free Te Tai Tokerau!
You'll whip up creative communication plans, spark public interest, and manage any bumps along the way.
Plus, you'll organize engaging events, wananga, and hui that bring people together to support our cause.
This role is a shared resource with the Department of Conservation so you must be adept at managing your time and running multiple campaigns at the same time.In addition to content production and collateral development, you will build strong relationships with hapu and Iwi, respecting cultural expressions of te ao Maori throughout our communications.
We need a great storyteller, someone who can deliver great results and who brings a can-do attitude.
We'll be relying on you to provide expert advice on how best to communicate and engage with a wide range of audiences.Do you have what it takes?We are looking for someone who can bring the following to our diverse talent pool:A tertiary qualification in communications or a related field is desirable.At least five years' experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.Good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Maori world view (Te Ao Maori) and how this is applicable to the communications planning and delivery.Proven experience in developing and delivering communications and engagement strategies.Experience collaborating with cross-functional project teams and key stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization.Experience working in the public sector or corporate environment will be advantageous.Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.Proficiency in MS Office Suite and a keen interest in emerging technology and channels.Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop, is a plus.A full and current driver's license is desirable.We understand that sometimes the right person doesn't 'tick all the boxes'.
