We are redefining what it means to be a consumer in Aotearoa by growing confident consumers whose collective influence is a force for good.About the roleWe're seeking a senior communications star who has strategic media management skills, as well as a passion for consumer advocacy and the ability to drive change. This is a pivotal role and requires a mixture of being reactive and at the coal face of media relations, which can be very fast paced – while also managing advocacy and campaign momentum, which requires planning, careful time management and stakeholder engagement. As a driver for positive change for consumers, you'll be passionate about equity and consumer empowerment.The campaigns and communications manager is a critical component of the Consumer NZ team, working closely with the CEO, as well as the investigative, policy, and test teams. This role will set the tone for our external communications – whether that be in the mainstream media or directly to our advocacy supporters.You will be someone who can work in both a team as well as autonomously, and who challenges the status quo with innovative thinking.Match your skills and experience to the role:Lead strategic relationships with media and other relevant influencers, and respond to incoming media.Align public relations activities with Consumer NZ's strategic priorities.Assist in the planning, development and delivery of Consumer NZ campaigns.Develop effective relationships with external parties to grow Consumer NZ's voice and influence.Develop and support in-house spokespeople through media training and setting up media speaking engagements.Assist with the organisation and delivery of external events.Identify opportunities for public speaking and public interaction, promoting Consumer NZ staff and raising our profile in the community.Manage internal communications to ensure that staff members across the organisation are well connected and informed of key projects and strategic goals.Identify opportunities to source fundraising that supports Consumer NZ activities.Manage a small communications team.How to applyThis Wellington-based role needs you to be in New Zealand already and eligible to work here.
