Ringa Hora is one of six Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) created under the Education and Training Act 2020 to provide industry with greater leadership across vocational education. We represent industries including Advisory Services, Aviation, Cleaning Services, Business Services, Contact Centres, Financial Services, Hospitality, Local Government, Real Estate, Retail, Security Services, State Sector, and Tourism & Travel.

Te ahua o Te Turunga – The nature of the position
We seek a highly motivated, culturally adept Communications Advisor to help us develop and deliver strategic communications, media, and social media activities for Ringa Hora.
This is an opportunity to develop and deliver high-quality, culturally specific, and accurate communication materials that will connect authentically with our audiences and partners.
As well as providing advice, you will bring your skills to establish and maintain a variety of different working relationships, within Ringa Hora, across WDCs and across our diverse stakeholder network.
This is a unique opportunity to bring your communication skills to the table and make your mark in a new and growing organisation.
This is a fixed term role until 30 June 2025.
You will have highly developed communication skills coupled with a professional, positive, flexible and diplomatic approach to problem solving. You will be able to bring excellent writing skills and experience writing for different audiences while demonstrating a good understanding of engagement and communications within, ideally, an educational context. A core knowledge of, or a keen willingness to learn about Te Tiriti o Waitangi is essential to success in this role.
As one of the core areas of focus for Ringa Hora is around supporting Maori businesses and workforce in the services industries, you will be expected to have knowledge of te ao Maori views. Proven experience of working with iwi, hapu and Maori businesses or organisations in the communications or marketing context would be a big advantage. Competence in Te Reo Maori to connect and engage with partners, business and industry is highly desirable.
