Archbishop Paul Martin SM is the current Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Wellington.Reporting to the General Manager, the Communications Advisor will play a pivotal role in helping the Catholic community share its stories of service, mission and justice across the Archdiocese of Wellington (ADW).
This position supports communication initiatives across parishes and key areas including education, social services, and mission efforts, fostering connection and engagement throughout the community.This role focuses on creating a central "hub of connectedness" to share stories, resources and information; providing online learning opportunities, raising awareness of the Church's support services, and enhancing parish communication.Key responsibilities:Develop, implement and actively manage the Archdiocese's communications strategy and planSource, manage and monitor content across various platforms for website, social media, intranet and other platforms and publications while ensuring messaging consistency and alignment with ADW's values and goalsCoordinate and support the creation of communications material for fundraising activities, community engagements and eventsAnalyse and enhance current digital comms channels to ensure a unified and consistent message across all channelsProvide communications advice to the Archbishop, General Manager, leadership team, parishes, and staffMaintain relationships with key stakeholders and external contractors to ensure smooth execution of communication activities.This position offers a unique blend of challenge and reward, providing plenty of variety and opportunities to work across the organisation, grow your skills and truly make the role your own.

If you're looking for a role that combines professional growth with the opportunity to make a real difference, this role could be a great fit for you!Person Profile:Proven experience or qualifications in communications, marketing, journalism, media, content production, or related areasAn understanding of values-based communication theory and practiceExcellent range of communication skills including verbal, writing, editing and designCreative with a keen eye for detail and design aestheticsUnderstanding of the role communications play in campaigningExperience planning for and delivering multi-channel communicationsAbility to build strong, collaborative relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholdersTime management and organisational skills to prioritise and meet deadlinesPositive, self-driven, proactive, adaptable, and effective both independently and in a teamProficient in computer skills and experienced with Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Wix, Mailchimp and CanvaExperience with various digital channels, such as Meta Business Suite, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube would be an advantageExperience with incorporating Te Reo and tikanga Maori into communications is a plus, but not essentialUnderstanding of Catholic faith and values would be highly desirableAble to accommodate occasional after-hours and travel within the Archdiocese as needed.This permanent full-time role (37.5 hours per week) is based on Thorndon Quay in Wellington Central.
