We have a newly created opportunity to join our Generation Development Team as the Commercial and Programme Services Manager leading a team of dedicated professionals to drive our portfolio's success. In this role you will provide leadership in commercial and programme matters with a focus on contribution to strategy and planning, project acquisitions, strategic relationships, procurement, and general commercial management across our development programme and projects. This role reports to the General Manager Generation Development, who supports continued growth and development and has a management style of empowerment and transparency. The role has approximately 3-5 direct reports and together you'll be part of a wider team of approximately 15. The role has the option to be based out of our Hamilton, Tauranga or Auckland offices with travel required to our sites as required. Key responsibilities include: Gather and develop business intelligence and insights related to national and international renewable energy trends, competitors, supply chain and global economics to enhance our renewable development strategy and planning Support the GM Generation Development to build and foster strategic supplier relationships Support project development teams to optimise project commercials and coordinate business cases Support project delivery teams on delivery/contracting strategies, commercial negotiations, and management of supply and construction contracts Lead discussions, due diligence and negotiations for renewable project acquisitions and opportunities Contribute to improvement in Ways of Working, in particular for commercial matters including project controls Actively stretch, develop and build capability in people by creating opportunities that broaden and deepen experience and skills, and create opportunities for diversification in role Act as a coach to foster adaptive thinking, build leadership capability and create insight that enables people to grow and develop We are looking for: Significant experience in a commercial role - ideally within electricity, renewables, or oil and gas Leadership and demonstrated success including business strategy and planning Proven experience in large scale (>$100m) infrastructure procurement, contract negotiations, and contract management Experience leading/coordinating negotiations and acquisitions MBA, law degree or similar advanced degree desirable Mercury offers (full benefits are listed on our Career Page): Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays) $400 one off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office A diverse workplace where your unique abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged Annual salary reviews with excellent parental leave policy, with the option to purchase additional leave The opportunities, career paths and facilities associated with working for one of New Zealand's largest multi-utility providers Flexible working policy - The autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance Excellent well-being programme including up to $100 annual check ups and confidential assistance programme Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave to be taken when you lose anyone close to you, including your pet Mercury is a learning organisation that is committed to providing you with opportunities to grow and develop that will benefit you now and in the future.
