Commercial Portfolio Manager at NZ Defence Force, Wellington - WairarapaMo te tunga | About the roleYou will be the principal commercial and procurement advisor to Defence Estate and Infrastructure and a key member of the Defence Commercial Services Senior Leadership team. You will work in partnership with Defence Estate and Infrastructure and be responsible for developing and maintaining commercial and procurement plans and strategies to help achieve their business objectives and outputs.This includes:Implementing and communicating an action-oriented commercial strategy to support Defence Estate and Infrastructure business plans and priorities and wider NZDF outputs.Delivering complex commercial projects and measuring and driving commercial performance within the portfolio.Reviewing and (potentially) transitioning major outsourced services through complex commercial projects.Managing and improving existing commercial partnerships, significant business change projects with commercial implications.Managing significant, complex and critical commercial events, contracts and supplier relationships.This role must be based in Wellington CBD. Once you have undergone training and are established in the role you will have the option of working from home up to two days a week.You will bring extensive experience and commercial success in leading procurement programmes or projects. Experience in construction or infrastructure related projects is essential.You will be working with a wide variety of stakeholders and partners to deliver requirements; so your interpersonal skills, including influence and engagement, will be paramount to your success.You will also have:Extensive experience (5+ years) in managing significant procurement and contracting programmes or projects.Experience in developing strategy and / or policy documents, including business cases.Proven ability to enable decision making for senior leaders in a commercial context.Advanced communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex themes to a range of audiences, including in formal presentation settings.This role requires occasional domestic travel.
