They have an engaged team of talented people, passionate about delivering activities that enable a healthy and prosperous community to live, work and play.The commercial manager of property and investments will become a key player in driving business growth, maintaining key relationships, and overseeing policy-level business operations.
Their ability to navigate contracts, identify opportunities and manage risks is crucial for success.Key areas of responsibilities include:Undertaking land and property purchases and disposal requirementsLiaising with the Executive Director Enabling Services on new investment opportunities, land acquisitions, disposals and property projects as appropriate.Ensuring asset development requirements identified in Council Strategies are included in future asset management planningCoordinating with other planning and budget development processes for the long-term plan, annual plan and 30-year infrastructure strategy for commercial facilities asset management plansEngaging and managing external consultants and contractors for service delivery of property projects as requiredProviding support to the acquisitions, disposals and leasing team with subdivision work and subsequent marketing and sales as and when requiredMaintaining effective relationships with all other Council Groups (Infrastructure & Property, Development & Growth and Community Services & FacilitiesThe successful person will have a combination of technical expertise and problem-solving skills, as well as,A high level of learning agility and excellent critical reasoning skillsAn entrepreneurial style, be a self-starter and be confident working in ambiguityThe ability to hit the ground running and develop a meaningful planExcellent communication skills with the ability to create strong internal and external stakeholder relationshipsThe ability to work in a complex environment, navigate bureaucracy and strive to achieve meaningful outcomes within the frameworks availableA belief in SDC's ethos of people first, whole business, community and purposeThis is an exciting and important role that is new to the council.
