General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management)Who we are:Tauranga Volunteer Coastguard is a charitable organisation responsible for saving lives at sea in the coastal area of the Bay of Plenty. We are the second busiest Coastguard Unit in New Zealand with 70 volunteers, assisting more than 400 people every year, and making in excess of 25,000 radio calls to boaties. We have two dedicated rescue vessels with sophisticated electronics especially designed for search and rescue missions.What we are looking for:A motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic manager who is able to work with minimal supervision in an active and dynamic environment. They will be a self-starter who is passionate about saving peoples' lives, continuous improvement, and leadership in a primarily volunteer-based organisation. This role reports to the Tauranga Volunteer Coastguard Board.What you will be responsible for:Day to day running of the unit ensuring that resources are in place to maintain required level of readiness.Managing and developing external relationships to ensure that the Unit continues to act effectively in combination with other agencies such as lifeguards, police, harbourmaster, and Coastguard New Zealand.Leading fundraising efforts to secure both the short-term and long-term financial sustainability of the Unit.Managing all aspects of the volunteer staff ensuring high levels of motivation, ongoing recruitment, well-being, and high standards of training.Managing the administration functions including maintenance and operation of the accounting system, vessels, and facilities, with the assistance of an Office Administrator.What we will provide:Permanent full-time position.Competitive remuneration commensurate to the responsibility and diversity of the role.Supportive and team-oriented working environment.Challenging and rewarding work.If this sounds like you, then please send your CV and a short brief of why you are interested in this role to the Tauranga Volunteer Coastguard President at ****** must be able to work in New Zealand and not subject to visa constraints.The closing date for applications is 18 October 2024.
