They also provide environmental and municipal water and wastewater sampling and testing for the Grey and Westland Districts.The roleThe Greymouth team are looking for a new permanent part-time member to be responsible for all coal train sampling and sample processing. The role will be based on a minimum number of 15 hours per week, but above that the hours required will be those needed to complete the work- likely no more than 30 hours per week. The location of the role will be primarily Stillwater, but some travel to the office in Greymouth, to Rapahoe and to Reefton will also be required.Key responsibilities of the role include:Coordinating with the client, Kiwirail, and the fuel lab team in Christchurch to understand and meet the required loading, processing and delivery timeframes.Sampling from the coal stockpile as the digger is loading the train wagons.Collecting samples from other train loading locations (80kg in up to 6 bags).Processing coal samples delivered to the office and sending a portion to the Christchurch laboratory for testing.Dumping waste coal on appropriate stockpile.Occasionally completing a rapid laboratory test on site in Stillwater.The person in this role would also provide backup to the water team, for example they might assist in field sampling when more than one person is required, or be asked to read the results of a water test. Full training would be provided.Key personal requirements:Reliable, able to work unsupervised.Comfortable with working outside in all weathers, and getting their hands dirty.Safety conscious working around mobile plant and machinery.Physically fit, able to lift 20kg.At ease being flexible with their work hours, communicating with the client and train loaders, and accommodating delays.Happy to work outside of normal business hours, including each Saturday with an early start.Able to follow set processes and complete accurate documentation.Proud of a clean and tidy workspace.The ideal candidate would already reside in/near Greymouth. You will be provided with all required PPE.
