Details of the offer

CNC Technicians (Software & Engineering) & Team Leader Red Stag TimberLab Limited (Red Stag) in Rotorua is seeking experienced CNC technicians/engineers and Team Leader to manage the software/programme and run state-of-the-art large scale automated five axis CNC machines for mass timber processing (CLT, GLT and LVL).
The opportunity for growth and development is vast, with two large scale, three head, five axis flatbed CNC's and New Zealand's largest two head 360-degree five axis beam processor (capable of processing beams 18 m long).
It is not essential for the candidate to have experience in mass timber CNC processing. Experience with CNCs for kitchen cabinetry, furniture, metal or plastic industries or similar should provide sufficient base knowledge to be supported with on job training in the specific CAM software, tool selection, and machine management/operations.
The vacancies are full time positions on day shift to support with the programming and running of three CNCs with the existing team. The position functions include, but are not limited to:

Controlling the machine operation during processing.
Managing tools, and supporting with tool maintenance.
Managing the CNC housekeeping and waste management.
Supporting with troubleshooting and CNC maintenance (in conjunction with the Engineering Services team).
Optimising processing, to drive productivity and throughput on each CNC.
Currently the team operates Monday to Friday, between 45 – 48 hours per week. Premium rates are available above 48 hours if there is sufficient demand and team members are willing to work longer. The minimum contract hours are 35; however, the team has never operated less than 40 hours since the plant was commissioned in 2020.
Depending on the candidates skills and experience, typically the starting pay would not be less than $30, with experienced and autonomous CNC Technicians typically upwards of $32 per hour (refer to advertisement pay range).
The CNC Team Leader opportunity requires the same technical skills as the CNC technicians/engineers, but requires additional skills and experience with scheduling, personnel and productivity management (managing the entire CNC team to drive productivity and support in optimising machine uptime and efficiency).
Key attributes and accountabilities ideally suited, but not necessarily essential for this role include:
Solid experience or understanding of modern CNC and manufacturing processes.
Good computing skills and experience to manage the Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) processes to support CNC machining (applicable Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) skills and experience is also beneficial).
Ideally have a applicable NZQF Level 3 qualification or similar.
Ability to problem-solve, simplify, and break down processes and challenges into manageable elements.
A strong focus on quality and detail.
Mechanically minded with the ability to support with CNC troubleshooting and maintenance.
Analytically minded with strong organisational skills.
Good communicator/articulate – verbal and written.
Initiative and enthusiasm.
Structured and systematic.
It would be advantageous if you were experienced in gantry crane operations but not essential (training available).
Targeting candidates that have existing rights to work in New Zealand (Citizenship, Residency, or existing unrestricted Work Permit).
In return for your valued contribution, a competitive wage with training and development opportunities is on offer. If you have the skills and aspire for a new career path, we would like to hear from you with your resume.
