Job summary Dorset Healthcare are looking for enthusiastic, flexible individuals driven to provide an outstanding service and are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our administrative team at Christchurch & Southbourne Community Mental Health Team.

You will be fully supported by an experienced and progressive Admin Team Leader, and provided with all the training and tools you need to be successful in this role.

You will have regular supervision, yearly appraisals, and opportunities to be creative and put your ideas forward, embedding the ethos of continuous improvement.

You will need to be flexible to manage the workload of this busy Community Mental Health Team. We adopt and ensure our Trust's values are incorporated in everything we do, providing a patient-centered approach with recovery and wellbeing at the forefront of our care.

The working hours are 09:00 until 17:00, Monday to Friday, with a half-hour for lunch.

Main duties of the job You will be required to provide efficient secretarial, administrative, and reception support for the team.

To liaise with members of the public and a variety of professionals, both in primary and secondary care services. Given the nature of this service, some patients may contact us in distress; we are looking for resilient applicants, but you will be provided with training and the skills to manage this.

With a compassionate work ethos, you will thrive with the right level of support offered by the administrative Team Leader.

You will have a solid administrative background or be an experienced secretary, able to multi-task and manage your time effectively.

You will need an understanding of Office 365 including Outlook, Word, and Excel, have an outstanding telephone manner, and be able to deal with difficult patients through excellent communication skills.

You will be organized, able to motivate yourself and your colleagues, work to deadlines, and complete tasks with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.

You will be responsible for keeping RIO, the Trust's patient record system, up to date, following data protection and GDPR legislation.

You will provide secretarial support to the team's Consultants through the completion of clinical correspondence and dictation, onward referral management, and arranging and attending as a minute-taker for several different types of meetings.

You must have an intermediate level of audio typing skills.
