Whetu Marewa (Rising Star) is a primary health youth service in the Waikato region. The service aims to build the confidence, resilience and wellbeing in taiohi who are living with mild to moderate mental health and addiction-related issues and social stressors.

You will work to deliver support to young people in both community and school.
You will also be part of the rostered after-hours service on a rotating basis.
As a Registered Health Professional with Real, some of your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Enhancing confidence, resilience and wellbeing in the taiohi we support. Supporting taiohi to re-connect with community services and take control of their own lives. Providing assessment and support using a range of evidence-based brief interventions. Performing on-call duties out of office hours one week in approximately every ten weeks. Supporting taiohi with their primary mental health in school or in the community. In this role, you will align with our tikanga (principles) and kawa (practice) and support the clinical components of Whetu Marewa - Primary Mental Health.
You | Mou We are interested to hear from candidates who have a current health registration (Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse or Dapaanz practitioner) and proven experience working with young people.
You will also have:
A current New Zealand Health registration. Experience in working with young people and an understanding of trauma-informed care. Tertiary Health qualification in DAPAANZ and Counselling NZAC and registration with a professional body. A current full New Zealand driver's licence. A current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one. An understanding of what you need for your own wellbeing. Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Knowledge of and relationships with local NGO and Iwi providers. Closing Date | Ra katinga: 25 October 2024.
