Clinical Youth Community Mental Health WorkerStepping Stone TrustWe're looking for a passionate clinical graduate to join us in providing a place of standing, hope, recovery and wellness for youth as they experience mental health challenges and conditions. Your personal passion and newly acquired professional degree will be an asset to our team as we use our skills and experience to connect with rangatahi and their whanau to provide opportunities to increase their confidence in developing and leading full lives.
This role is a permanent full-time role (1.0 FTE), based in Christchurch, with working hours Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm.
You will be assisting young people who are experiencing mental distress in the recovery of their mental wellbeing, and the role will require you to:
Assist in the development and provision of a comprehensive, high-quality service for rangatahi and their whanau / families who are accessing the service. You must be reflective and flexible in your practice.Assist in the delivery of a service that honours Te Tiriti O Waitangi and be understanding of what that means in your work and team context.Utilise your clinical knowledge to contribute to the overall outcomes of rangatahi and their whanau and offer valued support to your team.Be creative in finding solutions for rangatahi that you can then confidently communicate to your team and other agencies.Support the development of professional relationships with other service providers that also work with rangatahi e.g. primary care, High Schools, other NGO agencies, Specialist Mental Health Services, and whanau/family support networks.Use your initiative to take advantage of 'downtime' by researching other areas of help and support and making contact with agencies and groups to influence change, progress and the journey of the rangatahi you are supporting.Make a meaningful difference in your community.Successful candidates will have a formal tertiary qualification, with a current registration, who have some experience working in the mental health sector and have a passion to work within this area and are willing to learn.
Have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Occupational Therapy and/or Allied Health equivalent, in conjunction with some experience in the mental health, health and/or addictions sectors.Have Membership of a Professional Body within their field.A willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.Strong assessment and analytical skills.Strong organisational skills for managing your workload alongside good verbal and written communication skills.Possess an engaging communication style and have the ability to relate, connect and work alongside with rangatahi via several platforms e.g. online, individual and/or in groups.Have a strong (intermediate) level of computer literacy.Have experience in facilitating groups of rangatahi.Have a full, clean driver's license.Be able to contribute to a multi-disciplinary team setting.Ability to identify risk(s) and mobilise effective and speedy intervention.Previous CEP/AOD sector experience would be an advantage.Newly qualified clinical graduates are welcome to apply. Lived Experience candidates, with a proven recovery journey, would also be a welcome addition to our team.
