Clinical Specialty Nurse – Perioperative Department
Full Time (1 FTE) Permanent Role
Are you an existing theatre nurse, ready to take the next step in your career journey?
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic nurse to step up as a Clinical Specialty Nurse to our Plastic Theatre team. The Plastic service covers Acute and Elective surgery, 24/7 and consists of the subspecialties Plastic, Burns, Maxillofacial, Hands, CO2 laser with focus on ORL & Microvascular.
In this position you will be working with some of the best Consultant Specialists in their chosen specialty and will be involved in all types of surgeries from the simple to the more complex, multi team/multi-specialty cases. Continued self-development and learning will be required as well as supporting your fellow team members. This position also requires the successful applicant to be confident to coordinate, prioritise and communicate with the wider multi-disciplinary team when coordinating the surgeries within the 14 Theatre's of Middlemore Hospital. In this role you will be part of an ethnically diverse environment which will both pose challenges in crisis situations but also brings great rewards, personal satisfaction and opportunity to grow individually and as a team.
The successful applicant must have a minimum of 3 years theatre experience. An ability to be flexible, confident and an excellent communicator is also required when leading the team both in an individual theatre or coordinating and managing the acuity of surgeries coming into the wider theatre block. Preceptorship qualities as well as strategizing own development are valued and appreciated.
Essential:

NZ Registered Nurse / Registered Comprehensive Nurse
Current Annual Practicing Certificate
A minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience in this specialty
Highly proficient clinician in nursing practise including skills, knowledge and ability to provide direction for and evaluate nursing care
Demonstrated expertise in setting standards and managing practice to achieve these
Proven ability to negotiate and motivate staff to excel
