Clinical Psychologist (Rehabilitation Services)Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Whatu Ora – Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley DistrictService: Regional Rehabilitation ServicesContract: Permanent, Full-timeSalary: Negotiable based on APEX MECA or PSA Allied Health.To provide high quality clinical psychology service in the assessment and treatment of clients, ensuring clients' needs are met in a culturally, clinically and legally safe manner. Clinical psychology is a discipline integrating psychological and associated science, theory and practice to understand and alleviate human suffering and disability as well as to promote individual and family/whanau development, adaptation and recovery. Clinical psychologists work as part of multidisciplinary teams to provide psychological assessments and interventions to clients in hospital. Clinical psychologists also provide a range of other services to support the development and function of their teams and the organisation as a whole.The Regional Rehabilitation and Extended Care Service is a 24-hour inpatient service at Ratonga Rua Hospital. The service provides both longer-term care (Tawhirimatea Unit) and intensive rehabilitation (Tane Mahuta) within both secure and open settings. The service has 63 inpatient beds in total, some of which are in purpose-built cottages ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms.The service's focus is on recovery and rehabilitation through providing people with the opportunity to learn new skills, as well as gain independence and empowerment for community living. Both units provide clients with individualised recovery programmes in both a safe care and open setting.Tawhirimatea is a 29 bed safe care facility and Tane Mahuta is a 34 bed open inpatient setting which provides rehabilitation services to people within Central Regional Forensic and Rehabilitation Services. This is a regional innovative supportive service which works alongside clients in supporting their journey of recovery using a multidisciplinary team approach.The Clinical Psychology team are based at Tane Mahuta and consist of one experienced consultant and the vacancy for another clinical psychologist to join our team.You will have the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team that supports meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external stakeholders. As a team member, you will develop constructive working relationships with other team members within both rehabilitation units. The role requires someone that practices active and attentive listening skills.Essential experience and capability as follows:A sound knowledge of psychopathology, and psychological theories is essential.A sound knowledge of ICD10 diagnoses and at least one therapy model is essential.Ability to assess, diagnose and treat people experiencing coexisting mental health and addiction.Sound knowledge of psychometrics and experience with psychological testing is essential.Ability to develop sound psychological formulations based on thorough assessments.Ability to provide interventions for clients with trauma.Ability to advise, consult and educate the client and relevant others about treatment options.Ability to work alongside other mental health staff to provide psychological expertise within the MHAIDS 3DHB integrated care approach.Ability to attend and actively participate in regular meetings for the purposes of assessment, planning and implementing treatment. Experience in facilitating groups would be advantageous, as would experience of working with families.Ability to practice in a manner consistent with established ethical and clinical practices standards as provided by the HPCAA, the Psychologists Board and other professional bodies.Essential Professional Qualifications / Accreditations / Registrations:Minimum of a Master Degree in Psychology and Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.Registration with NZ Psychologist Board, with Clinical Psychology Vocational Scope of Practice.Current annual practising certificate.Valuing the work:Understanding of mental health and addiction in adults and the impact of these issues on clients, their families and community.A non-judgemental approach to addiction and the lifestyle choices of our client group.Effective oral and written communication.Recognising and managing risk in a clinical environment.Working in an emotionally challenging and changing environment.Responding to changing demands / priorities / workloads at short notice.Working in a multi-disciplinary environment.Other:Can use Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel).Can keep detailed written file notes, complete client pathway documentation and provide formal assessment reports as required.Here at Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District we embrace diversity and welcome applications from all people, including all gender identities, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, disability and religions.
