Palmerston North This city of 87,000 is located on the North Island of New Zealand and home to Massey University offering an excellent lifestyle and family friendly place to live.
Role This is a full-time, 1.0, 40 hours per week position. Be part of a multi-disciplinary child and adolescent team that provides a cluster of services in a community setting supporting infant, children and adolescents' mental health to help Tangata Whaiora (service users) achieve their maximum health potential within the specific complex area of eating disorders through assessment and/or intervention. The successful candidate will provide mental health services as an active, supportive member of the team in a collaborative environment providing specialist assessments and treatments to children, adolescents and their Whanau (family). Developing treatment programmes, understanding training to clinicians within the team and facilitating Whanau meetings as well as family interventions are all part of the scope of this position. Maintaining relationships with ken internal and external stakeholders, providing triage to clients in crisis and undertaking other duties to keep the service running effective and efficiently are all expected outcomes to maintain service leadership.
At least three to five years, or more, post license training and experience in child and adolescent mental health setting;Experience working with eating disorders;Knowledge of child psychology and development;Case management;Acceptance and experience working with children and their families who may have mental health problems;Commitment to consumer-focused care and recovery;Able to apply theoretical concepts and professional knowledge to practice;Eligible to receive your NZ Psychologist with *clinical* scope;Annual practicing certificate prior to starting work;Able to meet Immigration New Zealand's health, police background check and other requirements for a work visa; andAble and willing to commit at least two years.4 weeks annual leave per annum;11 paid public holidays per annum;Around $2,500 for CME per year;Malpractice insurance not required;Don't have to deal with insurance companies;Potential for some help with relocation costs; andOther things discussed at offer time.Why New Zealand People are lovely;You don't have to see a new patient every 15 or 30 minutes;Work here is much less stressful than in the US, UK and many other countries;Great place to live and work if you are towards the end of your career and looking for an adventure for 2-3 years;Excellent place to raise children with a good public, school system; andOur highly coveted, sought after, world class Kiwi Lifestyle.No Burnout Generally speaking, Clinical Psychologists from the US who now work in NZ find working here to be far less stressful than in the States.
