Clinical or Child and Family Psychologists - Youth Forensic Team at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waitaha Canterbury, ChristchurchPermanent part-time and fixed term part-time opportunities based at Whakatata HouseWork within an experienced multidisciplinary team and develop your expertise as a Clinical or Child & Family PsychologistProvide mental health interventions for vulnerable young people in collaboration with external servicesMo te tunga - About the RoleWorking exclusively with adolescents who are under the Youth Justice system, the multidisciplinary Youth Forensic Team provides mental health interventions for vulnerable young people to break the cycle at a crucial time in their lives. The team has a range of skills and areas of clinical expertise and are supportive of staff new to the area. Opportunities for professional development are provided and encouraged as we are keen to build up the expertise and resourcefulness of this team!We are looking for NZ registered Clinical or Child and Family Psychologists to join our team part-time, both permanent and fixed term opportunities. You will be passionate about wanting to help make meaningful improvements to the lives of disadvantaged and/or vulnerable adolescents. This position will see you working within service hours 0830 - 1700.Ko wai koe | About YouIn this role, you will be responsible for:Undertaking comprehensive mental health assessments utilising clinical interviewing, diagnostic, behavioural and appropriate psychometric assessment;Formulating and delivering appropriate intervention plans, youth court liaison, as well as some case management work;Presenting assessments and materials to other groups;Providing written reports for the Youth court;Providing consultation and interventions into Te Puna Wai o Tuhinapo (Youth Justice residence) and the Youth Wing at Christchurch Men's prison;Liaison with Youth Justice Agencies, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), and Regional services;Excellent assessment skills and a sound knowledge of available treatment options, including alcohol and drug treatment;Proven organisational skills combined with excellent communication skills that enable you to work with the various non-clinical psychology stakeholders in this role;Clinical experience working in a child or adolescent mental health service;Registration with the NZ Psychology Board and current Annual Practicing Certificate is essential;Clinical or Child and Family scope of practice is also essential.Specialist Mental Health Services are an interdisciplinary team that forms part of Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora - Waitaha Canterbury.
