About the Role Wound/Stoma Clinical Nurse Specialist. Responsible for specialist assessment and advice for wound and stomal therapy. Will work in Mid-Canterbury with the community teams but linked to the specialty service in Christchurch.
About the Service One of only four level three rural hospitals in the South Island, and the largest rural health facility in Canterbury, Ashburton and Rural Health Services provide a range of Inpatient, Day patient, Outpatient, and Community-based services to the community. Best responding to the unique needs of the surrounding rural communities, Ashburton and Rural Health Services' rural generalist model of care emphasizes integrated care across all their settings.
You will also work alongside the vascular/stomal team based in Ashburton and Christchurch.
About You As the Clinical Nurse Specialist in wound/stoma, you will work within the CNS team at Ashburton Hospital to provide expert knowledge in the management of patient care whilst working alongside the family/whanau to optimize outcomes. You will have at least five years' experience working either within the clinical specialty or a relevant senior nursing role.
As a senior Registered Nurse, you will be an expert at leading and developing nursing practice, auditing, quality improvement, and improving overall clinical expertise.
Commitment to postgraduate study is an essential component of this role, either having completed or being on the postgraduate pathway to complete within an agreed timeframe.

Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Skills and Experience Guiding and leading others in their clinical decision making, implementation, and evaluation of care;Providing timely nursing care to optimize outcomes;Using advanced health assessment skills in the assessment of patients and critiques own practice to maintain clinical competence;Leading system change to improve health outcomes through evidence-based practice;Collaborating with the patient and multidisciplinary team to plan and implement diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions to attain, promote, maintain, and/or restore health.Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the weaving of wellnesses.
