Clinical Nurse Specialist - Wahi Tautoko (Adult Inpatient Group) 1FTE, permanent position working Monday to Friday. Clinical leadership role for an experienced registered nurse in Mental Health. At least 3 years recent experience in an adult inpatient unit. Hold or have commenced the post graduate pathway with the focus on nursing. Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with current APC with a mental health scope of practice. Excellent communication and time management skills. Adherence to guidelines of Cultural Safety and the Treaty of Waitangi. Mo te tunga | About the role Wahi Tautoko is a 10-bedded service located in Building 8b. We aim to support consumers that require extended assessment or treatment following an admission to the acute inpatient service (Te Awakura) prior to discharge. This may include: tangata whaiora who are presenting to services for the first time that may require extended assessment and support around management of their symptoms. tangata whaiora that have an identified discharge pathway on admission – i.e. home or supported accommodation – but may require some additional assessment and upskilling to safely and successfully transition into the community. tangata whaiora who may have limited social supports and require support to increase their engagement in their local communities. The goals of the service include: Provision of a safe and supportive environment to provide extended assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation following an admission to the adult acute service. Teaching skills to help support illness management and to support consumers to live the life they want to live. Support development of structure and meaningful routines. The Role: Where you fit in This is a full-time, permanent, Monday to Friday role, working the morning duty. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and motivated individual who is looking to expand their career pathway to take on a clinical leadership role. With your proven ability to lead, you will be an expert at developing and extending nursing practice, assisting with performance appraisals, auditing, quality improvement, and providing overall clinical expertise and mentorship within the team, enabling them to continue to deliver a high standard of care. You will also have a role in developing this service alongside the Charge Nurse Manager in delivery of excellent nursing care and treatment. Experienced, Specialist Mental Health Nurse, registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC - must include scope for Mental Health Nursing. Adhere to guidelines of Cultural Safety and the Treaty of Waitangi. Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously. Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills. Expert clinical nursing knowledge and leadership ability. Extensive experience working within mental health is essential – you will hold a relevant post graduate qualification or be working towards one and have at least three years post graduate experience in an inpatient mental health. The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution-focused. As a role model, it is expected you will engage with nursing staff and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure effective relationships are developed and maintained, therefore your integrity, excellent interpersonal skills, effective organisational and time management skills and clinical credibility are imperative to the success of this role.
