We have an exciting 1FTEpermanent opportunity for a senior nurse to progress your career as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within Intellectual DisabilityMo te tunga About the rolePsychiatric Service for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities (PSAID)Inpatient Unit, is based at Hillmorton Hospital that specialises in theassessment and treatment of people with a dual diagnosis (intellectualdisability and mental illness).
The multidisciplinary team actively involves tangatawhaiora(consumers) in their care whilst collaborating with their whanau (family).
We focus on individual skills and abilities to maintain independence whilstencouraging the development of new skills.
We utilise a variety ofcommunication techniques to support our tangata whaiora, to help them understandtheir treatment options and to make their own decisions.
We further promote engagementwith the wider community to maintain social connections.
We advocate acontinuum of care, liaising with the community outpatient team, residentialproviders and caregivers to support successful discharge planning into thecommunity setting.
Pehea AboutYou As the new Clinical Nurse Specialist,you will find yourself developing and extending nursing practice, assistingwith performance appraisals, auditing, quality improvement and providingoverall clinical expertise and mentorship.
You will enable the team to continueto deliver a high standard of care to our tangata whaiora,whilst engaging with nursing kaimahi (staff) and members of themulti-disciplinary team to ensure effective relationships are developed andmaintained.
Nga pukengame nga wheako Skills and experienceIn order to be successful in this role, the following is required : Registered with the Nursing Council of NewZealand with a current APC and mental health scope Minimum three years experience working within mental health Have a relevant post graduate qualification, orbe on the pathway to securing one Possess a depth of clinical nursing knowledgeand leadership ability Self-motivated, flexible and solutions-focused Be an excellent communicator and a naturalpeople person Impeccable time-management skills and processdriven The ability to work autonomously and within ateamMo matou About UsSpecialist Mental Health Services are an interdisciplinary team that forms part of Health NZ Te Whatu Ora - Canterbury Waitaha .
