Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Patient Blood Management team in the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) here at Waikato Hospital.
As a successful CNS you will play a key role in monitoring and managing patients receiving Intravenous Immunoglobulin therapy (IVIg).
Day to day you will be working alongside three other nurses who form the Patient Blood Management team; a Clinical Nurse Coordinator and Speciality Clinical Nurses. In addition, you will work alongside Clinical Leads (anaesthetists) who have a special interest in patient blood management and a visiting immunologist.
This is a 1.0FTE full time, permanent position where you will work Monday to Friday between the hours of 0800 and 1630 (please note, these hours may be subject to change).

Mo tatou Ratonga | About our Service Our Patient Blood Management team is committed to providing evidence based, multidisciplinary approaches to improve patients' medical and surgical management in ways that boost and conserve the patients' own blood. Improved management results in a reduction in required transfusions of blood products, thus avoiding transfusion-associated complication. Our success is driven by our commitment to improve patient care, reduce inequities and reduce unnecessary spending.
The PBM team work to operationalise Hospital Transfusion Committee initiatives and is involved with supporting everything blood related including policy and process development, data collection and analysis, staff support and education, investigation of wastage and ensuring appropriate access to and use of blood products throughout Waikato.

Mou | About you Reporting to the Nurse Manager – Theatre & Anaesthesia your role is to build relationships with patients currently receiving IVIg therapy; monitor and review treatment plans and collaborate with medical staff to ensure evidence based best practice is employed.
Day to day work flow and projects will be coordinated with the Clinical Lead and Clinical Nurse Coordinator.
Our ideal candidate would:
