Older Adult Mental Health Community Team Te Uru Whakamauora – Healthy Ageing and Rehabilitation 1.0FTE permanent position, based in Palmerston North.
Te Uru Whakamauora Directorate have an opportunity for a senior nurse to join the Older Adult Mental Health Community team at an exciting time of development for community focused, culturally responsive, integrated health care for kaumatua and older adults in our region. This role includes working in the community with adults over 65 years and those of Maori and Pasifika descent over 55 years.
We are seeking to recruit a senior nurse who can ensure they deliver clinical and cultural best practice across the region. This role will also lead and develop the Older Adult Mental Health Community nursing team, supporting the service to achieve its vision and meet objectives, including professional management and oversight of the team. This role will be based in Palmerston North but supported by a team of nurses who engage in comprehensive assessments and support, within the care continuum in a variety of care settings including people's homes, throughout Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua, MidCentral.
Applications for this position are invited from nurses who have a minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience in nursing roles that include working with people with dementia and functional mental illness, and frailty; can provide advanced nursing expertise, clinical assessment and co-ordination of support; demonstrate a high level of critical thinking, solution strengths based and focused problem solving; enable and empower clients and their family/whanau to engage in whanau centred engagement; and have a confidence and passion to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams, community organisations and cultural groups to support an inclusive, innovative, culturally responsive and respectful service.
A relevant Masters qualification with prescribing qualifications (or working towards in an agreed timeframe) that includes postgraduate courses in the speciality of mental health nursing is a pre-requisite.
Current driver's license with no restrictions is also a pre-requisite.
