Clinical Nurse Manager - Senior Management Role The Clinical Nurse Manager is expected to demonstrate advanced nursing knowledge ideally in a palliative care practice and business acumen in managing staff resources and supplies to achieve clinical best practice and cost-efficient services.
Required to develop innovative approaches to problem solving and utilise the skills of team members to coordinate and resolve problems, able to develop individual solutions for each issue or problem and to demonstrate understanding of when to escalate problems to the CEO. Is an excellent communicator both verbally and in written form, able to communicate with all members of the nursing team and broader hospice team both promptly and effectively. Is a good listener and respects the contribution of colleagues and communicates in a way that demonstrates this. Is self-aware and understands that sector self-care is very important and demonstrates this to staff. Person Specifications Registered Nurse with Nursing Council NZ and hold a current APC. Be nice to have someone who has an understanding of the local Southland and Queenstown populations. At least 5 years of management and leadership, preferably in palliative care and understands how this is a real mix of art and science. Ideally Postgraduate Nursing qualifications. Expert PDRP level 4 or working to achieve this. Advanced learning and contemporary knowledge in an area of either palliative care, aged residential care, hospital care or GP Practice Management experience. Able to exhibit a personal style of management that reflects a strong awareness of personal strengths and limitations. Is sensitive to individual and cultural diversity. Needs to have well-developed advocacy skills in respect of patients/family and whanau members and staff alike to be able to identify and manage ethically inherent conflicts of interest and needs that will arise. Has an ability to ethically delegate to other staff and colleagues. Able to work autonomously and collaboratively within the Senior Management team and wider organisation. Excellent change management skills and proven ability to lead others through change. Prepared to work in the spirit of Hospice philosophy where so many people give freely of their time.
