Echelon Group – Christchurch, South Island Mobile Health was established in 2002 and with funding from the Ministry of Health, they provide health services primarily to people living and working in rural New Zealand.
The Mobile Surgical Unit – Te Waka Hauora provides low risk elective day surgery in rural communities that do not have local access to a full operating theatre.
The range of surgical specialties includes General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Endoscopy, Dental Surgery, and Plastic Surgery.
The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for leading a safe, efficient and patient-focused day surgery service that brings the operating theatre to the doorstep of 25 rural communities.
Role Description Use your leadership and management skills to lead the clinical team by example, whilst maintaining focus on the organisation's strategic objectives.
Develop strong relationships within a professional network of surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, anaesthetic technicians for both recruitment and to maintain continuity in the regional service delivery.
Recruit, train, lead, and motivate a team that is focused on results, efficiency, and performance.
Ensure clinical standards are maintained while also keeping abreast of developments in day surgery with respect to practice and equipment.
Person Requirements Extensive current peri-operative nursing expertise (minimum 5 years' experience) to current best evidence-based practice.
Ideally have post-graduate training in operating theatre nursing practice.
Proven experience in leading a culture of continuous quality improvement and overseeing regular clinical audits.
Strong communication skills, with a practical and pragmatic style and a balanced approach to problem solving.
This position is based in Christchurch and due to the nature of the remote mobile operations will require some travel.
