You will be working with individuals and in group settings. The Physical Health Psychology service is a highly valued service at Southland Hospital and provides a unique opportunity for a psychologist to have an incredibly varied caseload whilst working across the lifespan.The duties of this position will include the following:Support the provision and delivery of a high-quality health psychology service at Southland Hospital, InvercargillEstablishing and maintaining effective working relationships with health professionals from multiple servicesProviding psychological advice, consultation and training to non-psychological colleagues working across a variety of health servicesManagement of a varied caseload including the assessment, formulation and intervention of anxiety and mood difficulties relevant to patients with long term physical health conditions across a wide range of servicesProvide psychological interventions that promote rehabilitation and psychological wellbeingWorking autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Southern policies and proceduresAccess to health psychology administrative supportSupported through specialist individual clinical supervision and attendance at southern wide monthly psychology meetingsAs an experienced Clinical Health Psychologist, you will have proven competence, knowledge and skills required for the assessment, formulation and intervention for our hospital patients. You will be confident in using clinical judgement in a range of situations and will be able to apply psychological interventions as appropriate.To be successful in this position, you will also need to demonstrate the following:Be highly self-motivated and have the ability to manage and prioritise a high workload autonomouslyDemonstrated clinical practice in therapy for people with physical health difficulties and concernsHold a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and be registered with the New Zealand Psychologists BoardAble to uphold a professional manner, confidentiality, and sensitivity at all timesBe a friendly team-player who is comfortable actively participating within a multi-disciplinary teamExperience in supervising students will also be beneficial, as there is an expectation that you will supervise Psychology intern students when required.In the interests of protecting our people and our patients, all appointments will be subject to the following:Occupational health assessmentPolice vetting/Ministry of Justice safety checksSerious misconduct checks
