Description
Clinical Director - Perioperative Services
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead the Peri-operative service at Whangarei Hospital, part of Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau.
Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau provides public health services across Northland, serving a population of over 200,000 people.
The region includes Whangarei Hospital, the largest in Northland, and three rural hospitals.
Whangarei Hospital has 8 operating theatres and a procedure room, providing surgical services for Northland, including emergency surgery.
The role involves leading a team of approximately 30 Specialist Anaesthetists, as well as Anaesthetic SHOs and Registrars.
This position requires effective leadership and clinical oversight.
We are looking for a motivated, experienced Clinical Director with a strong background in health leadership and managing change in New Zealand or an equivalent healthcare system.
A key aspect of this role is to provide high-quality leadership to our peri-operative services, balancing clinical time and director responsibilities.
As Clinical Director, you will play a crucial part in driving equitable outcomes for our Maori population, aligned with our Tiriti-based system.
To be eligible, you must have vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in an Anaesthesia scope of practice.

Salary: NZD $250,000 - $300,000 per annum
