Clinical Administrator, Mangere Refugee Health Service

Counties Manukau District has established the Mangere Refugee Health Service providing primary care and other services at Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa (formerly known as the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre). This is a unique opportunity to work with Quota Refugees, in a new service, and provide health care to a population with complex and chronic health needs. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Administrator to contribute to the overall patient experience and support the operation of the Mangere Refugee Health Service. You often be the first point of contact with refugees and thus pivotal in ensuring positive first interaction. You will also co-ordinate the services and have a major role to play in prioritising work flows and managing patient expectations. The Clinical Administrator may work at reception, on specific administrative tasks or support the operation of clinics at the centre. The position will ensure the team has adequate resources, information and support working in conjunction with the management team.
You will be a strong administrator who works effectively in a team and have the ability to work flexibly and innovatively. Ideally you will have experience working with refugees and a strong understanding of their health needs with experience as an administrator within a general practice or urgent care clinic. The position will work with refugees to enable them to build trust and confidence in the NZ Health System.
About the role: Mainly based at Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa (formerly known as the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre) with free car-parkingFull time, Monday to Friday role with no on-call or out of hours work requiredEssential requirements include: At least 2-3 years administrative experience in health, ideally with experience in a general practice or urgent care clinicExperience working with patients, ideally with culturally diverse and/or refugee populationsAbility to work flexibly and innovatively, and in partnership with othersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills with a positive friendly and empathic approachThe salary range is dependent on skills and experience and will be paid in line with the National Administration Collective agreement.
