The Climate Change and Resilience Manager plays a critical leadership role in shaping Whakatane's response to climate change, raising awareness, strengthening community resilience, and ensuring effective emergency management. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that mitigate the effects of climate change, build community preparedness for emergencies, and support long-term resilience to both natural and human-made hazards.
As a key Manager within the Council's Strategy and Growth team, you will coordinate the work of emergency management officers, strategic advisors, and projects, providing expert advice on climate change response and resilience. This is a dynamic and impactful role, ideal for a professional with a passion for sustainability and community safety.

To be successful in this role you will have:
A relevant degree in sustainability, environmental science, emergency management, or a related field
In-depth knowledge of climate change science, mitigation, and adaptation strategies
Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to lead multiple complex projects
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders
A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
