We have an opportunity for some cleaning superstars to come and join our fantastic teams at Whakapapa.
The Whakapapa whanau are a small but ambitious team, running year-round operations on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu. In winter, from June until October, this includes a world-class ski area. In summer, from December until April, this includes our summer sightseeing operation, heroing our iconic Sky Waka gondola. Each year we welcome hundreds of thousands of manuhiri (guests) to Whakapapa, many with life-long connections to the maunga (mountain) and surrounding region, some even third or fourth generation.
Mo te tunga | About the role Let's face it - this is a pretty important role! You need to ensure all staff rooms, public areas and toilets are cleaned and restocked and lead a team of cleaning attendants to achieve this. The ability to ski or snowboard is useful as this is the quickest most of transportation between facilities on the mountain. You may be asked to help out in the café outlets wherever needed to help control business levels.
You will take part in:
Ensuring all work areas, toilet facilities and staff rooms are clean, tidy, maintained and ready for service and all tasks are completed with the appropriate products and equipment. Ensuring areas are prepared, cleared and maintained ready for food preparation and storage in accordance with departmental and industry guidelines. Storing, ordering and receipting goods correctly, and in the appropriate location. Assisting in the transportation of café products, goods and equipment, using appropriate transportation methods. Assisting Distributions team during the lean periods of the day Any other duties as requested by the supervisor.Along with your commitment to exceptional guest services, other skills and qualities a successful Cleaning Supervisor will have are: A quick response to requests, ideas and suggestions in a non-defensive way. A tolerance for uncertain market and weather conditions. Ability to effectively delegate responsibility with clear guidelines and directions. Remuneration range for this role is $23.15 - $24 per hour depending on experience.

The receivers continue trading the Company and are working on transferring the ownership of the Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas to new operators. On 18 December, DOC announced public notification of Pure Turoa Limited's concession application to operate Turoa ski area. The Receivers are continuing to work on the sale of Whakapapa.
