We require x2 drivers to join our busy couriers and freight distribution business. We need full time staff working at least 35 hours a week with the following qualities. Main Duties: To carryout daily vehicle inspections encompassing mechanical, safety and emergency equipment To ensure road user charges (RUC), Registration and COF are up to date To complete logbook accurately and in a timely manner To ensure truck is loaded appropriately and load is secured with strops, chains, Corner boards and backing boards. To ensure all loads comply with height, weight and width specifications To travel within speed limits at all times having consideration for road conditions, other road users, weather, freight, signage and the environment To report any traffic infringement immediately To competently care for equipment ensuring truck is kept clean and well presented Ensure logbook pages and work timesheets handed end of week Plan best delivery/pick up route Pickup goods and make deliveries Loading and unloading freight when required with forklift To ensure paperwork is completed accurately To ensure mezz floor secured with diagonal chains at all times Secondary Duties: To ensure helping loading and unloading freight with forklift drivers if required Washing trucks if required To maintain effective lines of communication with fellow drivers, dispatch, forklift drivers and supervisor and be a reliable team player Key Result Areas/Goals: To complete assigned task/load to high standard, in a practical time frame and in a cost effective manner To ensure the company's policies are followed at all times To ensure that quality standards are continuously improved with a focus on "getting it right first time Strong focus on high quality work output and attention to detail in all aspects of work Personal Attributes/Characteristics: To contribute to overall development of the section and aim to provide a high quality service To take the responsibility for the deliveries and pickups as allocated by the dispatcher Ability to maintain stable performance and attitude in high pressure situation Punctual, reliable and responsible Experience and Knowledge: Basic knowledge of the mechanics of the truck and how to maintain it Knowledge of how to secure loads using strops, chains and load binders Knowledge of transport and related industry laws Knowledge of emergency procedures and how to handle dangerous goods Ability to use satellite navigation, E-logbooks and on board computers Basic literacy and numeracy skills for accurately completing logbooks and measuring and weighing loads Experience of identifying health, safety and environmental risks Knowledge and understanding of health and safety and how to use this in the workplace Qualifications: Full class 5 licence Dangerous goods endorsement OSH Certificate Other Requirements: To be suitability fit as a work undertaken is physically demanding Ability to be flexible in approach to hours worked and prepared to be on call Willing to take responsibility for own training and self-development May work locally or travel long distance which means spending nights away from home
