Civil Water Cadet - Wellington - ( 240003AR ) Description CIVIL ENGINEERING CADET (WATER) - WELLINGTON Jumpstart your career with Stantec! Are you a recent school leaver wondering what to do next? Or have you been working for a while but want a different career path? Starting in 2025, our engineering cadetships are a chance to try something different to transform your career. You don't need any relevant engineering experience—you'll learn on the job and through study. It's an opportunity designed to help you succeed. Your opportunity As a Stantec cadet, you'll work towards a qualification in civil engineering. We'll help you complete your studies and gain hands-on experience at the same time. Working as part of our water team, you'll develop skills in design and draughting while helping with projects throughout Aotearoa. This is a paid, full-time role that includes time off to study. It's a four-year programme where you'll walk away with your Diploma in Engineering alongside valuable work experience to kick off a great career. Our Wellington teams are diverse and passionate. They're involved in a wide variety of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects around the region, including pipe renewals and upgrades, and design and construction of the water infrastructure that keeps our communities running. Every day varies, but some of the areas you can be involved will include: Assisting with site visits to review project progress, perform tests, and ensure sites are operating safely. Learning to use CAD software to develop designs and assist with drawings. Helping project managers across a variety of project stages. Learning how to perform data analysis and design calculations. Working on drinking water and wastewater treatment plants. Stantec is a global company and our priority is our people. What we are looking for from you: An interest in Civil Engineering, keen to complete papers toward the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering. Minimum 48 NCEA Level 2 credits in your four best subjects including Maths, Graphics and a Science-related subject (if you do not meet the minimum entry requirements there is an option to complete additional foundation courses). Open to further learning including being disciplined with good study habits. Collaborative and excited to work in a team environment. Current full driver's license. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel (this can be learned on the job).
