Company:Fiso Engineering & Aerospace Location:Christchurch, Addington Position Type:Full-Time Job Summary:Fiso Engineering & Aerospace is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Civil Engineer to join our team.
The position involves working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary engineering team to create, develop, and implement innovative engineering solutions across a range of industries & sectors.
The civil engineer is expected to solve problems and manage solutions within the civil scope of our projects, both current, and future.
These include projects in land development, infrastructure and alternative energy.
Recognising the supported start-up environment that we operate in, the position demands the ability to collaborate with both the hardware engineering team and any entity related to our land development projects (i.e.
stakeholders, contractors, environmental consultants, and council authorities) to deliver solutions efficiently.
Role & Responsibilities:Collaborate with the hardware & software engineering teams over the full design cycle and commissioning process of our projects, developing and testing new technology.Work with software and mechanical engineers to integrate environmental data from sensors and drones.Ensure compliance with consents, environmental policy, industry standards and best practices.
Collaborate with contractors, environmental consultants, and council authorities to ensure compliance with land development regulations.
Handle contract management and negotiations.Oversee, review and optimise development works at different phases of the projects, including earthworks, road installation, piping & drainage networks, electricity infrastructure, environmental risk mitigation, TMP's, and residential infrastucture.
Perform site investigations and feasibility assessments.
Analyse geotechnical data to inform construction decisions and mitigate environmental risks.
Operate drones for the purpose of surveying at various land development sites.
Post-process point-cloud data from lidar surveys, analyse results, report to inform project development.
Assist in the management of project timelines and deliverables.
Support business development efforts by contributing technical expertise to proposals and client discussions.Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations.Qualifications & Skills:Minimum qualification, a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or another related field.
Recognised by Engineering New Zealand as a chartered professional engineer (CPEng).At least one year of experience performing site surveying.
Involvement with at least one major land development project in industry.
Ability to interpret civil engineering plans/drawings - evaluate, suggest and sign-off on improvements or design changes.
Experience in financial analysis and cost breakdown of civil projects.
Ability to handle regulatory compliance and a familiarity with regulatory bodies and standards in the civil engineering domain.
Experience with contract management and negotiations.
In-depth knowledge of council regulations, environmental policy, and the Resource Management Act (RMA), including potential future changes.Technical understanding of floodplain analysis, erosion control measures, or stormwater management.Very strong research skills, coupled with strong professional writing skills.
Excellent communication and ability to efficiently collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
These include mechanical, mechatronic, and software engineers.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, experience with project management tools such as MS Project or Wrike.
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD.
Preferred Skills & Experience:Prior experience in using point-cloud post-processing software such as Terra, Terrasolid, and Terramatch.Piloting experience with drones, purposefully for surveying terrain with Lidar.
Knowledge of geospatial technologies (GIS) and hydrological modeling tools.
Experience with environmental impact assessments and site audits.
