A warm, family-oriented household is seeking a dedicated, nurturing individual to provide exceptional care for their 23-month-old child with complex medical needs. This role combines childcare, medical assistance, and general household support.
Wishlist of Skills and Experience:
Female caregiver preferred
Physically fit and able to assist with daily care and outings
Full clean driver's license and reliable vehicle
Medical experience in nursing, healthcare assistant (HCA), pharmacy, physiotherapy, or similar desirable
Organised, reliable, and able to exercise common sense in dynamic situations
Excellent communication and comprehension skills
Non-smoking/vaping environment
Knowledge of good hygiene practices is essential
Childcare experience, especially with toddlers
Experience with cerebral palsy, dystonia, feeding tubes, epilepsy is a significant advantage
Familiarity with New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is a bonus (the child uses AAC)
Seeking long-term employment in a family-focused environment
Willing to travel, with the family, to Whangarei occasionally for medical appointments or other activities
Calm, gentle, intuitive, and nurturing personality
The family enjoys music, reading, and connecting with nature, and they hope to find someone who shares these values.
Job Overview:
Wakeover shifts, early mornings, and evening care
Provide emotional and physical support to the child, including entertainment or soothing as needed
Basic childcare duties such as feeding and changing
Supporting medication via PEG feeding tube
Household chores, focusing on laundry, beds, and maintaining a clean environment
Assist with excursions (e.g., swimming, grocery shopping)
Running of errands
Pump feeding and preparing formula or blended feeds
Managing and ordering medical supplies
Physical therapy assistance
Taking the child for walks in a wheelchair to enjoy the outdoors
Filing and administrative tasks for medical records and correspondence
Maintaining a detailed medical diary (documenting seizures, feeds, medications, symptoms)
Ensuring medical equipment is charged, cleaned, and in good working condition
