Job Description - Chief Te Tiriti Relationships Officer (2401018) Chief Te Tiriti Relationships Officer - 2401018 Senior leadership position within the University of Otago Lead Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnerships and relationships The University of Otago is seeking an experienced and visionary leader for the position of Chief Te Tiriti Relationships Officer.
As the Chief Te Tiriti Relationships Officer, you will lead the University's Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnerships and relationships, providing expert advice and support to the University in relation to te reo, tikaka, and matauraka Maori.
This includes: Working with the Vice-Chancellor and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the University has the leadership, structures, and resourcing to support our Te Tiriti o Waitangi journey, partnerships, and relationships.
Managing, supporting, and advising the University on advancing partnership priorities with Ka Papatipu Runanga o Otakou and developing partnerships with mana whenua and Maori entities.
Leading the team in the Office of Te Tiriti Partnerships to create a space where matauraka Maori, tikaka Maori, whanaukataka, and hauora can be nurtured and flourish.
Providing leadership for the uptake and proficient use of te reo Maori, tikaka, kawa, and matauraka Maori, promoting their integration into the fabric of the University.
Advising on and supporting the correct exercising of kawa and tikaka.
Leading policy, strategy, and initiatives that develop and strengthen the University's capability, capacity, and culture to become an effective Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner.
The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in Maori advancement, preferably at a senior leadership level, and a proven track record in the development and implementation of Maori-specific strategy and policy.
We would also expect to see: Ability to develop and implement strategy, policy, and programmes, with strong people skills to develop effective relationships.
Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and engage staff.
An appropriate tertiary qualification is essential, with additional qualifications being desirable.
