The Diocese is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead a passionate and committed team and contribute to shaping the future of the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch.
The Diocese is at an exciting time as it strengthens its future in the region, achieving the vision through:The creation of the cathedral precinct with construction of the new cathedral and other ancillary buildings.A shift in focus from 'Maintenance to Mission' through evangelisation.Supporting the continued development of the Diocesan parishes.About The Role:This role's primary objective is to support the Bishop in his administrative and pastoral responsibilities for the Diocese through the management and leadership of the Curia staff.
Reporting directly to the Bishop, the role has responsibility for approximately 45 staff.The role is broad based with responsibility for:Leadership and management of the Diocesan teamsFinancial and asset management including management of budgets, investments and overseeing the management of the long-term fundraising strategy for the DioceseStrategy and planningRelationship management, communication and engagement.Oversight of large-scale building projects and the organisation's property portfolio.This role also reports to:Diocesan Finance Council/Priests CouncilCollege of ConsultorsOther Bishop's Advisory GroupsSkills & Experience:A relevant tertiary qualificationExperience in a senior management role leading diverse, multi-disciplinary teamsFinancial and commercial acumen with proven problem-solving skillsHighly developed communication skills and ability to build strong internal and external relationships and influence outcomesProven ability in stakeholder engagementA sound understanding of human resource managementExperience with management of a large property portfolioA commitment to the vision, mission and values of the Roman Catholic ChurchExperience in the not-for-profit or public sector would be an advantageProven ability to manage change, lead a culture of high performance and improvementOnly candidates who are currently eligible to live and work in New Zealand will be consideredPlease attach your cover letter and CV and send to the above email address with Chief Operating Officer Job Application in the subject line.
