Due to our continued growth and expansion, we are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Head Office in Christchurch.Position OverviewWe are seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This newly created role is designed to lead Bargain Chemist's financial operations towards our next milestones. The CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of our company, driving growth, and ensuring sustainable financial health. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years' experience in finance, accounting, strategic planning, and risk management.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Strategy and Planning:Lead the development and execution of innovative financial strategies that align with and support our ambitious business objectives.Develop long-term financial goals, budgets, and forecasts.Assess financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.Collaborate with our Senior Leadership Team to ensure financial objectives align with the company's strategic goals.Develop and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders.Provide strategic oversight and leadership in managing all financial operations, ensuring robust financial health and operational efficiency.Direct the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.Ensure the company's financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulations.Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the company's resilience in a dynamic market environment.Monitor market trends and economic conditions to make informed decisions.Develop and manage the company's risk management strategy, including insurance and compliance.Manage the company's capital structure, funding strategies, and potential mergers and acquisitions.Leadership & Team Management:Inspire, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.Ensure the finance team is properly trained and has the resources needed to perform their roles effectively.Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals and provide financial guidance.Compliance & Reporting:Ensure excellence in regulatory compliance and financial reporting, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax filings and other regulatory reports.Oversee the development and implementation of internal finance and accounting systems, controls, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.Qualifications & SkillsMinimum of 10 years of progressive experience in senior financial roles, with a proven track record as a CFO.Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, and financial management skills.Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.Experience with risk management and financial analysis.Solid understanding of business law, regulatory issues, and tax compliance.Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.A relevant financial qualification (e.g., CPA, CFA, MBA) is preferred.Qualities and AttributesExperience in the retail sector is highly desirable.Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.High level of integrity and ethical standards.Strong attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture.Proactive, results-driven, and able to work independently.Company VisionBargain Chemist aims to expand its footprint to 60 stores nationwide by 2030, driving growth and innovation in the retail pharmacy sector.If you're a strategic financial leader ready to drive our success, we want to hear from you.
