Chief Executive - Wellington, New Zealand - Ichor Leadership Search Job Summary: Led by the vision, "Antarctica and the Southern Ocean - valued, protected, understood", Antarctica New Zealand is seeking a Chief Executive to develop, manage and execute New Zealand government activities in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. This includes accountability for Scott Base, the Antarctic research station supporting science in the Ross Sea region, while fostering a cohesive organisational culture and adapting to changing needs of science and environmental impacts.
Key Responsibilities:
A visible and engaged people leader, comfortable working within complex operating environments.
Expertise in strategy development and execution, driving innovation and change within a scientific research-based organisation.
A blend of political savvy and commercial acumen to work with a wide range of local and international stakeholders.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to front and manage media.
Prior exposure in a CE role, with Board reporting experience and affinity with the science and research sector.
Frequent travel required, based at Antarctica New Zealand's corporate office in Christchurch.
Key Requirements: Prior experience in fostering cohesive organisational cultures, effective strategic and people leadership, and exposure to overseeing an organisation with complex health and safety requirements. The incoming Chief Executive will be responsible for achieving the completion of the new Scott Base Redevelopment plan, ensuring the infrastructure adapts to changing needs of science and environmental impacts over time.
