Chief Executive Officer

Details of the offer

Rewarding and inspiring leadership roleHealth sectorWhanganui based
Hospice Whanganui provides high quality, free-of-charge palliative care to patients and their whanau/families in the Whanganui, South Taranaki and Waimarino regions, from its base in central Whanganui. The Hospice serves a population of circa 65,000 and at any one time has up to 130 patients in its care. Most of these patients are cared for in their own homes in the community by an integrated team of health and social service professionals. This service is also supported by a small in-patient facility for those who need it.
Following a very successful term as CEO, leading the Hospice through a significant period of growth and enhanced service delivery, the incumbent is now stepping aside to enable a new CEO to take the reins and embrace the implementation of the Hospice's ambitious five-year strategy.
With an unfaltering focus on exceptional and equitable palliative care to people in this community, and a particularly strong focus on building a service that is equally accessible to Maori and rural communities, the role requires someone with a strong value alignment to this kaupapa and mission.
It also requires someone with a deep understanding of the charitable nature of Hospice and the deep community connections within which the organisation operates. A strong communicator with exceptional relationship skills, you'll be known for your experience and ability to grow and lead high-performing teams. Your strategic and financial competence and commercial acumen will be needed, to ensure the Hospice consistently delivers in a financially sustainable way. You will be an outward-facing network-builder who can engage externally with confidence, able to develop and maintain strategic relationships with key partners and negotiate and advocate with skill and empathy to achieve the best possible outcomes for all patients and whanau in a resource-constrained health environment.
Whether you come from the health, social services, not-for-profit or corporate sector, your alignment with the values that drive Hospice Whanganui's mission and strategy will be of key importance. Your exceptional leadership, strategic and commercial skills will ensure your success in leading this highly aspirational and passionate team into its next phase.
