The Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organisation and drive economic prosperity across the Eastern Bay.

The Chamber is focused on growth, building strategic partnerships, fostering business success, and contributing to the overall prosperity of the Eastern Bay.
The Role As CEO, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Chamber, ensuring alignment with our mission to be the voice of local business.
You will work alongside the Chair and Board of Directors to shape and implement the Chamber's new strategic vision, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, and secure funding to support growth and expansion.
Key Responsibilities Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Chamber.
Grow and retain membership, while expanding services and member engagement.
Lead stakeholder communication, acting as the primary advocate for the business community.
Foster strong relationships with government, sponsors, Maori enterprises, and key industry leaders.
Oversee the planning and execution of events, including the biannual Business Awards and other networking opportunities.
Develop and maintain partnerships to drive regional economic development and business collaboration.
Ensure sound financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and securing sponsorships.
Lead the internal operational management, HR processes, and the training and development of staff.
Support the Board with strategic planning and governance oversight.
Promote visibility of the Chamber across all parts of the region and its major sectors.
Key Requirements Passionate about the Eastern Bay and making a difference.
Bachelors degree in Business, Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 5-7 years in a senior leadership role, preferably within an Economic Development role, membership-based organisation, or business development environment.
Proven experience in developing and executing strategies on a limited or "shoe-string" budget, demonstrating the ability to optimise resources for maximum impact from planning through to implementation.
Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in the Eastern Bay.
Experience in managing stakeholder relationships, including with government, Maori business leaders, sponsors, and community organisations.
Demonstrated success in growing membership, and securing funding through sponsorships, grants, and partnerships.
Strong background in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to a Board of Directors.
Excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
Strong strategic planning and problem-solving abilities.
A creative and innovative thinker.
A collaborative leader with the ability to inspire and mentor a team.
Knowledge of the local business environment and a passion for supporting regional growth.
Flexibility to work outside of regular hours, including attendance at community and industry events.
