About the company WMS Shipping Co. is responsible for barge and coastal shipping operations for WMS Group (HQ) Ltd. WMS Shipping Co. collaborates with West Coast Bulk Logistics and Westland Mineral Sands to operate a motorised barge for ship-to-ship transfer of mineral sands exports and third- party cargo. We are seeking two Chief Engineers to work on rotation on the motorised barge off the West Coast of New Zealand. The vessel flag state is Nuie and the vessel class is Rina. About the opportunity The Chief Engineer has overall responsibility for daily operation, maintenance and repair of the vessel's engine room machinery as well as all other vessel machinery, equipment and systems. While the barge is operating it will be a 24hr operation. Job arrangements within each shift will change according to the situations such as vessel at sea, at port, berthing and unberthing, loading and discharging. The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000 depending on qualifications and experience. About you You will be an experienced maritime engineer able to meet the following key requirements Must have: valid STWC 2010 Certificate of Competency for vessels >500 GT minimum 3 years experience as Chief Engineer on sea-going vessels. strong knowledge of HRP propulsion system (azimuth thruster propulsion system) required. strong knowledge of hydraulic control system and able to troubleshoot. strong knowledge of electrical and electronic systems. experience in Dynamic Positioning System vessel is an advantage legal right to work in New Zealand Must be able to: meet STWC 2010 medical examination requirements work onboard without UMS system. perform maintenance and overhaul on existing high-speed engine and HRP thruster propulsion system without shore personnel assistance. troubleshoot Holland Rudder Propeller (HRP) electronic control system. perform inspection, maintenance on onboard electrical system such as 440V, 220V and 24V.
