Read on!Minimum Requirements:Must be at least a minimum of 3 years experience for this position.Must be qualified for the position applied for.Certificates of Competency or Proficiency must be valid.Must have valid MNZ Medical.Must pass a Drug and Alcohol test and may be required to undergo a pre-employment medical.Must provide referee names and contacts.Hold a valid Chief Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency (STCW MEC1) issued by an IMO-recognized authority.Preferably holds a valid Tanker Endorsement but not required.Proficient knowledge of marine engineering principles, systems, and equipment, including diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate instructions clearly to crew members.Familiarity with relevant maritime regulations and industry standards, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code.Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding conditions at sea for extended periods.Additional certifications or training in relevant areas such as advanced firefighting, medical care, or Bulk Carrier operations may be advantageous.Previous experience in a similar role on board ships or vessels preferred.Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of marine propulsion systems, diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.Proficient in troubleshooting and conducting repairs on marine machinery and equipment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multicultural team environment.Sound understanding of safety protocols, risk management principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in demanding maritime conditions.Willingness to adhere to a rotational work schedule and availability for international travel as required.Silver Fern Shipping Ltd operates under an Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and encourages all interested and suitably qualified persons to submit an expression of interest.Making an application is easy!
