Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) isa Te Whatu Ora Pathology service provider in New Zealand. As one of two tertiarylaboratories within New Zealand, we work collaboratively with a wide variety ofpartners across Health and other sectors locally, regionally, nationally andinternationally. At Canterbury Health Laboratories ourpathologists are supported by an extensive team of scientific officers, scientists,technicians, phlebotomists and support staff, working collaboratively with ourcolleagues in the wider system to deliver health care to our communitiesthrough our wide range of core and specialist pathology services. Mo te tunga About the role We are currently seeking a medicallyqualified Chemical Pathologist to join our team; the department has threeChemical Pathologist and a registrar. Canterbury Health Laboratories is apublic hospital laboratory supporting Christchurch Hospital the tertiarylevel hospital for Te Waipounamu (NZ South Island). We provide a 24 / 7 corelaboratory service for the hospital and urgent community services and providespecialist testing for the wider regional and nationally for some services. We have a strong record of testdevelopment, and involvement with research; Specialist services cover a broadrange of biochemistry testing including toxicology, endocrine, metabolic andprotein biomarkers utilising good range of instruments including MS / MS, Q-TOF,TOF and ICP-MS. The department is involved in delivering a national antenatalscreening programme. There is a focus on quality and the laboratory holds accreditationto ISO 15189. Canterbury Health Laboratories has links to the University ofOtago and we provide biochemistry teaching for 4th and 5thyear medical students. the laboratory is also accredited for training by theRCPA. As a Chemical Pathologist at CanterburyHealth Laboratories, you would be involved in chemical pathology testreporting, validation and implementation of new tests, mentoring and trainingof biochemistry scientific staff and clinical governance, as permitted by yourscope of practice. There is also the opportunity to undertake lipid clinics.
