Chef - Thai Cuisine

Key Responsibilities:  Prepare authentic Thai dishes, maintaining authenticity in flavours, presentation, and ingredients. Design and update menus with seasonal Thai dishes, incorporating new recipes and customer preferences. Source, prepare, and maintain fresh, high-quality Thai ingredients such as herbs, spices, and sauces. Ensure each dish is artistically plated, reflecting Thai culinary standards. Monitor each dish's quality, taste, and appearance, ensuring consistency and high standards. Oversee kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment. Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and control food costs to meet budgetary requirements. Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring a safe environment for customers and staff. Occasionally engage with customers to explain dishes, provide recommendations, or handle special requests. Mentor and train kitchen staff in Thai culinary techniques and recipes to ensure high-quality output. Requirements: At least three years of relevant work experience or a vocational qualification in culinary arts comparable to NZ qualification at Level 4.
Other Skills and Attributes: Expertise in Thai cuisine, including knowledge of traditional recipes, techniques, and ingredients Creativity in menu development and presentation Strong attention to detail for quality and consistency Excellent time management and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen Leadership skills for managing and training kitchen staff Good communication skills for coordinating with staff and interacting with customers when needed Inventory management and budgeting proficiency Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations Ability to adapt to seasonal ingredients and adjust menus accordingly High level of professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction How to apply: Please submit your application, including your resume and a brief cover letter detailing your experience and why you would be an excellent fit for this role.
