Southern Cross Hamilton is a private short-stay surgical hospital based in Hamilton East that is committed to providing restaurant quality meals and catering for special dietary requirements on request. To make this happen, we need a motivated Chef who is passionate about food and excellent service, to support our Chef Manager.This role will work as part of a team, to provide meals for 60 inpatients along with day stay units, and morning tea and lunches for staff each day. The successful candidate will need experience especially in baking and creating sandwiches.This position requires an experienced chef who can:Prepare, cook, and serve a-la-carte restaurant quality food for patients and staff,Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff,Cater for varying dietary requirements and allergies,Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation,Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard-free environment,Work at a high level without supervision,Comfortably interact with patients during room service and clearing trays afterwards,Be able to work unsupervised and run an efficient kitchen when the Chef Manager has finished for the day,Be friendly and engaging and know what it means to deliver outstanding customer service.In this position, you will be working fixed shifts (Tuesday and Wednesday 9.00am – 5.30pm). We are seeking someone to start as soon as possible.
