Weekend and night shifts may be required.This is a permanent position to cover Site Managers and Chefs when on leave and training days and promises variety and challenge.
No two days are the same – whether it's filling the cabinets, cooking good hearty meals or catering for a function, this role will keep you on your toes.To be successful, you will need to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment whilst juggling multiple tasks at the same time.
This means you love being a hands-on chef and leader, actively involved in the preparation, cooking and service of food, who enjoys pleasing our customers on a day-to-day basis.To be successful in this position you will need a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in café settings along with experience managing a kitchen team.Responsibilities:Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine, and have experience catering for functionsMonitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentationCreate and adapt menus to cater for varied dietary requirementsEstimate food and labour costs and manage within budgetDiscuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staffImplement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulationsMaintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environmentBe flexible with short notice shift changesPolice vetting is a requirement for this role.As travel to various sites across the region, including to New Plymouth, is a requirement for this position, you will need a car and drivers' license (a fuel allowance is provided).This is an outstanding opportunity to establish your place within a growing New Zealand owned industry leader.
