Details of the offer

We are looking for two experienced Chefs for an Indian restaurant. The skills the person needs to have are in curry and/or tandoori dishes. The positions are full time and permanent.   Key Tasks: •    Take overall responsibility for the daily operations of the Tandoori or Curry section. •    Prepare and present Indian Curry and/or Tandoori dishes. •    Accommodate and meet the diverse dietary requirements of customers. •    Plan and prepare menus, assisting in cost estimation. •    Create new dishes and recipes to meet business needs. •    Ensure a balance of nutritional value in menus while maintaining quality. •    Accurately estimate the quantity of raw materials needed and associated costs. •    Set up the workspace according to business needs and keep it stocked for service. •    Make purchase orders and maintain inventory. •    Undertake proper stock rotation procedures. •    Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately. •    Verify that deliveries of supplies and ingredients are fresh. •    Address customer issues and complaints related to food. •    Be available for flexible work hours to handle large orders and catering. •    Properly store and freeze food as needed. •    Ensure cleanliness of all kitchen equipment. •    Adhere to maintenance protocols and health and safety regulations. •    Maintain high standards of personal hygiene. •    Delegate tasks and supervise kitchen staff. •    Train and mentor junior staff members. •    Perform other duties as directed by the Restaurant Manager or business owner. Position Details: •    Title: Chef (Curry/Tandoori) •    Location: Gisborne •    Hours: 30 hours per week (Full-time/Permanent Position) •    Number of Positions: 2 •    Payrate: $29.80 per hour Qualifications/Work experience/Others: •    Hold 3 years of relevant work experience or diploma in cookery level 4 qualification.  •    Hold the knowledge of curry and tandoori dishes. •    Hold the knowledge of spices used in curry and tandoori dishes.  •    Be flexible to work daily split shifts (Lunch & dinner), weekends and public holidays. •    Hold knowledge of developing menu and managing the kitchen staff. •    Ability to work independently and efficiently, demonstrating strong attention to detail.   How to Apply: Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
