Job Title: Chef Location: Christchurch Number of positions: 1 Employment Type: Permanent, full-time Hours per week: Guaranteed 30 hours per week Hourly Rate: $29.66 to $32.00 per hour, depending on skills/experience Job Description: We are seeking a capable and passionate Chef to join our team.
Known for our fresh, seasonal menu and the best date scones in town, we are looking for someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality, delicious meals.

Baking experience is a strong plus, as we make many of our café favourites, including breads, scones, and pastries, fresh in-house daily.
Key Responsibilities: - Plan, prepare, and cook a wide variety of dishes in line with our café menu, focusing on fresh, seasonal ingredients - Partake in developing new menu items and daily/weekly specials - Oversee food preparation and service for breakfast, lunch, and all-day dining - Ensure consistency in presentation and quality of all dishes - Monitor and maintain stock levels, ensuring all kitchen supplies are adequately stocked - Uphold strict food safety and hygiene standards at all times - Supervise and guide kitchen staff, delegating tasks as required - Contribute to the creation of menus for group bookings, functions, and events - Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment - Prepare fresh bread, scones (including our famous date scones), and pastries daily - Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service Job Pre-requisites: - Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a chef in a café, restaurant, or similar setting OR a Level 4 qualification or above in commercial cookery or a related field - Ability to supervise and teach the kitchen team and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment - Must be able to work weekends, public holidays, and within our café's operating hours (Monday to Sunday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm) - Experience in baking and pastry preparation is a strong plus - Strong time management and organisational skills - Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and maintaining high standards of food quality - Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards - Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and work well with a team How to Apply: If you're a qualified chef with a passion for fresh, seasonal food and baking, we want to hear from you!
