The Woodstock Hotel is a 150 year old destination brewpub and hotel on the outskirts of Hokitika catering for locals and travelers alike. During the past 17 years the current owners have redeveloped the business from a small country tavern to a multi faceted country hotel with a micro brewery, accommodation, live music and great meals. We are now looking to take the next step growing the brewery and are looking for an experienced chef with the ability to work sole charge alongside us to help create great value, tasty meals to keep our locals coming back time and again.
Qualifications & Experience Formal Cooking Qualification - either apprenticeship or tertiary trained
Minimum 2 years experience cooking NZ cuisine is essential and the preferred applicant would have a solid knowledge of classical cooking techniques.
Highly developed interpersonal skills and communication skills with well spoken English
Proven multi-tasking skills, enabling you to manage prep required on a daily basis while also managing your small team through service.
Comprehensive understanding of food safety and hygiene and Food Control Plans
Tasks & Responsibilities Daily cooking and serving extensive a la carte menu to a high standard
Hands on responsibility for all aspects of the daily operation of the kitchen including the creation of daily specials, daily prep, stock rotation and control, food management and service of meals.
Off-site catering as required for weddings, birthdays, celebrations etc
Maintaining food safety records and practices and supervise other kitchen staff to ensure all food safety and kitchen processes and procedures are correctly followed at all times.
Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and storage areas including doing dishes as required on the quieter days of sole charge.
Working sole charge in the kitchen at times during quieter days in off-season months.
