Charge Nurse Manager / Team Leader - Central Sectors Job Number: WAI28404 Where you'll be working: Hamilton with some possible travel across the District The details: Permanent - full time – 40 hours per week Join our dynamic team to make a real impact and enjoy working in a collaborative environment supporting our tangata whaiora.
Charge Nurse Manager (CNM) and Team Leader (TL) roles are essential in creating partnerships with Maori across all levels including tangata whaiora, whanau, Maori staff and the Kaitakawaenga team, and supporting our non-Maori staff to work together in reducing inequity.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity You will lead a multi-disciplinary team (clinical and non-clinical roles) within the Greater Hamilton community that fosters a culture of mutual respect, safe practice and acknowledges contributions from both cultural and clinical perspectives.
We are looking for strong, resilient leaders who will be able to support both tangata whaiora and their whanau and lead the team with a focus on delivering excellent care.
Mental Health and Addictions Service in the Waikato are about to embark on a transformation change to be a Maori led service.
You will need to be able to embrace these changes and to support the implementation of a Maori led service within your team and the wider service.
The role requires creativity, reliability and exceptional organisational skills.
Key responsibilities of the role: Build a high performing team that upholds the culture, values, mission and vision of the service.
Engage and work collaboratively with all stakeholders, particularly tangata whaiora and whanau.
Implement the operating model for the service that addresses how the structures, people, functions, activities, and infrastructure will support the work of the team.
Foster a culture of openness and quality improvement, with tangata whaiora and whanau at the centre.

Mo tatou Ratonga | About our Service We are the Mental Health and Addictions Service arm of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu, Waikato.
We provide specialist services for tangata whaiora who are experiencing serious mental health difficulties.
We strongly encourage family/whanau involvement in the recovery journey of their loved ones.
As a community-based service, we are open Monday to Friday.
We work with community partners across the Waikato.
Mou | About you To be considered for this position, you will need to be able to work in an environment where you may need to have difficult conversations, advocating what is right for Maori in what is a generally a western approach to care.
You do not need to be Maori, however a knowledge of Te Ao Maori and a willingness to learn is essential.
Knowledge of and experience working with tangata whaiora in mental health settings would be of particular value.
Skills and experience you'll need to be considered for the role: A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification.
Registration with relevant professional body.
Experience with community networking and managing inter-sectoral relationships/partnerships.
Experience leading teams in the health sector.
Have a passion for making a difference to the lives of tangata whaiora and whanau.
Support Maori oversight and ownership of decision-making processes necessary to achieve Maori health equity.
Be willing to lead change to truly make a difference.
Display initiative and resourcefulness that will allow you to navigate the variety of challenges you could face.
Previous involvement in change management processes.
