Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We have an exciting opportunity available at Fraser McDonald Unit for a motivated and innovative Mental Health Registered Nurse with experience in Acute Mental health, who is looking for the next challenge in their career!
Awhi Matua Fraser McDonald Unit is a 15-bed acute mental health inpatient unit, serving the needs of our population 65 years plus.
We work collaboratively with our Awhi Matua community counterpart to provide a continuum of care for older adults.
As a member of our inpatient team, you will work closely with both parts of the service with the aim of supporting our whaiora back into the community.
The inpatient team operates 24 hours, 7 days a week.
The Charge Nurse role in our multidisciplinary team is a role that works Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 to 16:30.
We provide acute assessment and treatment with the aim of supporting people to return to their community as soon as they are well enough.
As the Charge Nurse, you will be leading and supporting the multi-disciplinary team in delivering excellent care to our patients.
You will also be accountable for nursing professional and practice standards.
Qualifications and Attributes: You will be a Registered Nurse with Mental Health scope of practice.
Have a current & Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
Ideally you will hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health (or equivalent) and have experience in mental health leadership roles and an interest in collaborating with older people.
Hold a valid right to work visa.
Be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
Have minimum 2 years' experience working in a Mental Health setting.
